Buy Inexpensive Two way Radio
From LoveToKnow Buy
You can buy inexpensive two-way radios with few features or cheap two-way radios that offer some better functionality than most. While the Internet is known for finding great deals on many types of electronic gadgets, for two-way radios, you might be able to shop at local places.
Online
eBay
Still one of the more popular websites to find cheap merchandise is Ebay. This auction site has millions of products, retail and wholesale, and gives everyone an equal chance to bid on items. To buy inexpensive two-way radios on eBay, type “two-way radio” in the search bar. The query should return many options: from sets to single devices to accessories like batteries and carrying cases. As with most items, you will find used and new two-way radios, and opportunities to ‘’Buy It Now’’. That way, you can stay away from the bidding process and get guarantee you’ll get the radios you want.
Amazon
Amazon is similar to eBay except there is no bidding process. If you want to buy inexpensive two-way radios and they are in-stock, then you can purchase them immediately. You can either buy them new or used, but since the used radios typically get priced on a few dollars less, you are better off getting a two-way radio new. The reason is the manufacturer’s warranty is still in effect if something goes wrong.
Another reason to go with Amazon is their shipping costs. If the two-way radios are available for Super Saver Shipping, you can get free shipping if your order is $25 or more. This is currently an on-going promotion.
Shopping.com
Shopping.com doesn’t allow you to buy from them directly. This site lists price comparisons for the products you search for. The prices are compared from online stores. Some of the included stores:
- Target
- Office Depot
- Amazon
- Buy.com
Depending on how unique the two-way radio is, obscure or regional specific stores are included if you want to visit on physically.
Buy Inexpensive Two-Way Radio at Offline Stores
RadioShack
RadioShack has been around for years and is a premier place to buy inexpensive two-way radios. Actually going to the store is better than shopping online because it gives you aa chance to try out the radios. Most stores have functioning demos, but if they don’t the clerks will probably put some batteries in a couple and let you try them out. (RadioShack employees work on commission, so they will work a little harder for a sale than non-commission stores.)
RadioShack carries both inexpensive radios and higher-end professional two-way radios. If name-brand isn’t important to you, RadioShack carries their store brand two-way radios, which often run $20-$50 cheaper.
One other advantage to RadioShack is that if they are out of a particular radio you liked, they have many channels in which to get it, whether it’s another store, online, or through their paper catalogue.
Local Electronics Stores
Most smaller towns and medium-sized cities have local, mom-and-pop electronics stores. An easy way to find those stores in your area is to use Google. In Google’s search bar, type “electronics stores in {zip code}” where {zip code} is the area you want to search in. A map should pop up with tabs showing you where electronics stores are located. To the right of the map are addresses, reviews, and websites of anything Google displayed. Simply call those stores and see if they carry two-way radios.
One advantage to finding two-way radios in a smaller, non-chain store is that they may get lesser-known brands at inexpensive prices. These brands are usually fine for general consumer use and should suit most situations.
FCC
Whether you are buying fancy two-way radios or inexpensive ones, make sure you read the FCC guidelines and rules before using the radios. Certain types of two-way radios need to be registered with the FCC because of frequencies they use and the distances they can attain. If you don’t register, it’s possible to be fined.
