Buying Chia Pets
From LoveToKnow Buy
Buying Chia Pets can be either a frustrating or fun experience. The Chia Pet has been around since 1982 and the method to creating the plant inside the Chia pot is still the same. No skills are required, other than calmly applying the seeds.
What Is a Chia Pet?
A Chia Pet is a novelty "plant" created by Joseph Enterprises. In a characters or themed terra cotta pot, you add water and then spread damp Chia seeds on the body of the pot. Over time, the seeds will turn into a sprout-like plant. The sprouts were designed in a laboratory and cannot be found in a natural environment. The purpose of the sprouts is to enhance the image of what the Chia Pet is. For example, the sprouts will look like wool if you purchase the sheep. Or the hair on Homer Simpson's, if you get a character Chia.
Buying Chia Pets
Since the Chia Pets are handmade, the pottery is available in retail stores during the Christmas season. If you are looking for one at a different time, then your best bet is to purchase one online. Visit Joseph Enterprises for buying Chia Pets directly. Along the same lines, you can also purchase the Chia Herb garden and Chia Cat Grass planter.
For a large selection of Chia Pets, especially discontinued pots (like the Chia Bull), go to Amazon. Besides the Chia Pets, different quantities of seeds are available so you can plant again and again. Choose from a five-pound bag up to a five-allon bucket.
At TV Products 4 Less, you will find all kinds of As Seen On TV items at very competitive prices, including Chia Pets. Unfortunately, if you are looking for discontinued items or hard-to-find Chia Pets, then look elsewhere, but for others, TV Products 4 Less appears to have good stock amounts at any given time.
For rare Chia Pets or even those in original boxes from the 1980s or 1990s, then eBay is your destination. Many of the products are easily found online or in the stores at the Holidays, so check around for the best prices. Expect to pay a little more than retail price for the discontinued or the Chia Pets in original packaging because those are collectors' items. You will notice also, when you do a search on eBay, that the auctions with bids are the ones that are the rare ones.
As On Tv has been around for 10 years so be secure in knowing you are purchasing from a reputable company. They carry the most popular Chia Pets all year around and you can find them on sale most of the time.

President Barack Obama
Two "Obama Pets" were official released in April 2009. The Determined Obama and the Happy Obama. The statement "Barack Obama 44th President USA" is etched on the front and "Yes We Can" is cut into each side. The sprouts grow into Obama's hair. Right after the Obama Chia Pet was released, Walgreens took the product off the shelves, claiming that it was not in their image to sell such products.
