How to Buy a Waxing Treatment
From LoveToKnow Buy
So you've got hair in a place on your body that you want removed without the hassle of having to constantly shave it? Then consider having a wax treatment done. Here are a few things you should know about waxing before booking a session at a clinic or spa.
Waxing treatment basics
- Many people don’t understand how waxing works. What happens in a wax treatment is this: a specific amount of wax is melted down and kept warm, and then oil and rosin get mixed in with it. The warm wax is applied over the area you want hairs removed from. A strip of muslin is applied over the waxed area of your body, then pulled back quickly to remove the hair. It can be painful, but many people consider the results worthwhile. Most people have waxing treatments done to remove hair from their back, legs, bikini zone and eyebrows.
- Find a salon or clinic in your town that does wax treatments. Call up the different places you find and investigate rates. You should also talk to people you know who have had wax treatments done and try to get recommendations from them about good spots to go to for waxing.
- Expect some redness and irritation after your wax treatment. This discomfort should wane after a day, though. It’s recommended that you apply a moisturizer to the area you’ve had waxed, and to avoid running hot water over this area of your body for a few hours.
- If you are interested in keeping the area you have waxed hairless for good, you will have to go back for another treatment every six weeks. One waxing treatments does not stop hair growth!
- You may have to remove your clothes completely to have hair removed from different places on your body. If you are a man and are uncomfortable with having a woman do your waxing treatment (and vice versa), request a clinician who is the same sex as you when making an appointment.
Caution - Before your wax treatment begins, make sure that the clinician attending to you has let the wax cool down a bit. If the wax is applied when it’s too hot, you can be burned badly.
