QVC shopping is an easy way to buy quality products from home. QVC is one of the most popular home shopping television channels around, selling more than 137 million items in 2004 through of than 192 million phone calls accepted by QVC's operators. That amounted to more than $5.7 billion in sales that year, and the company continues to grow.

History of QVC

QVC (an acronym for Quality, Value, Convenience) was founded in 1986 by Franklin Mint founder Joseph Segel. In its first full fiscal year, it set a record for sales with more than $112 million.

After less than a decade in the business, QVC had become the biggest home shopping network in the country, available in 80 percent of homes with cable and on three million satellite dishes. The network is now available on the cable systems that supply 96 percent of American homes, as well as reaching more than 25 million satellite users.

QVC is a 24-hour-a-day, 364-days-a-year shopping channel, on which hosts demonstrate and talk about products. In the beginning, customers could only order products by calling in, and hosts taking calls is one of the big sources of content for the network. Now the company also has a website, through which users can buy clothing, electronics, home décor, gourmet food items, toys, jewelry, makeup and more.

Ordering by phone is still the most popular way to shop with QVC. The highest number of phone calls ever received in one day was in April of 2006, when more than 1.2 million calls were handled. The best sales day ever was in 2001, when more than $80 million in orders were taken in one day. A Dell computer was the most popular item that day, and QVC is a leader in electronics sales.

The network's programs are filmed at Studio Park in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and the company employs more than 16,000 people worldwide. Each week the hosts on QVC introduce customers to about 1,600 products, about 250 of which are completely new to the customer.

Based on revenue, QVC is the second-largest television network in the United States, following CBS.

Shopping with QVC

Most people have seen a segment of QVC even if they are not interested in shopping via the television. The basic idea is that the hosts demonstrate or talk about different products, and if the customer is interested in the product, he or she calls the number on the screen and talks to a customer service representative who takes the order.

Customers are often heard on the air talking about how much they love a product or how excited they are to see something promoted on the air.

This is a great way to shop if you want to watch nothing but infomercials all day long. But for those who are too busy to watch QVC all the time, or who just aren't interested in the majority of products that are promoted on the network, the Internet provides a wonderful solution.

QVC shopping online is available to American shoppers only. It provides access to all the products featured on the network and makes it possible to shop online instead of calling in an order. (You can also look for items online and still call in an order if you like.)

The website gives customers access to programming guides, so they can tune in to segments they would like to watch without having to wait for a product they are interested in to appear. The site also has quick links to items that have recently been on the air and the day's special value, an item that's price has been reduced for 24 hours.

Shoppers can watch videos, buy gift cards and browse thousands of items ranging from mattresses to exercise equipment, snow shovels to faux-diamond jewelry.

  • Check out the program guide on the website if you are interested in tuning in to the network. That way you won't waste time watching segments you aren't interested in.
  • Always look at the special value item when you visit the website. You never know what it could be, and it might be the perfect gift for someone (or yourself) at a really good value.
  • Don't be afraid to browse. They can't feature everything on the television network that is available on the website, so even if you go to the site with something in mind, check in categories you are interested in to see if there's anything else you can't live without.
  • Sign up for e-mail newsletters that will let you know when special events or sales are taking place. This can help you save a lot of money.

very disapointed ..very sadden, lost in the mail. not a good answer.. use tracking devices this is 2009. i hope this doesn't happen to anyone else......please correct this situation... thank you.........
