Where to Buy Soban Keychain

From LoveToKnow Buy

Wondering where to buy Soban keychains so you can show off all your pictures conveniently and without worrying about wear and tear on the original pictures? Find out what exactly a Soban keychain is, why you might want to buy one, and finally, where you can get your hands on one for yourself or your loved one.

About Soban Keychains

A Soban keychain, which is essentially a miniature digital photo album, makes it easy to transport and show off your family photo album without risking creasing or tears of the original photographs. It's easy to use (it only has three buttons) and was developed by Narea Inter from Korea.

You simply load your photos on it via USB, attach your keys to it, and go on your way. So when you're standing in line at the store waiting to check out and you want to show off your newest grandchild, it's easy. Your keys are probably in your hand!

Worried you won't be able to fit all your favorites on there? Don't. The Soban keychain can hold up to 7,000 images—that's a lot more than any wallet can easily hold. The battery life is roughly seven to eight hours before needing to be recharged.

Why Buy One

You may want to know where to buy a Soban keychain for yourself or because you want to give one to a loved one as a gift. Some of the best gift recipients for this product are:

  • Parents (especially new ones)
  • Grandparents (again, especially new ones)
  • People who work in sales and would find it handy to be able to show off whatever it is they sell in addition to handing over a business card
  • Individuals who always like having the newest gadgets
  • Those who just love taking, collecting, and showing off pictures
  • People who don't carry a cell phone, since many cell phones have become like portable photo albums that typically hold very few pictures

Where to Buy Soban Keychains: Korea

Unfortunately, the answer to where to buy a Soban keychain is: In Korea. They haven't hit the shelves everywhere yet. However, there are alternatives that you can purchase. The concept is the same; the outside just looks a bit different. Here are some alternatives that you may want to consider as you await the Soban's appearance on the market outside of Korea:

  • The Coby 1.5-Inch Digital Photo Keychain is available in black or white available from Amazon.com—The storage space on this is much, much less than the Soban keychain, but it will still hold roughly 60 pictures. You get them from your computer to your keychain via USB, just as you would do with the Soban. The photo viewing battery life is a mere four hours before it needs recharging, which is substantially less than the Soban's seven hours, but not devastating; you'll most likely be able to make it through a few days before you have to remember to recharge the battery. Expect to pay about $13.00 for this one (the price range of the Soban is unknown).
  • The Digital Photo Frame 1.5" LCD Picture Album Keychain, also from Amazon.com, holds more than 100 photos. Still, that is nowhere near 7000, but this digital photo album and keychain holds more pictures than most of the ones available on the market now. Expect to pay about $10 for this one.
  • The Brookstone Digital Photo Keychain is a little pricier at $29.99 but the reviews are fantastic on both Amazon and the Brookstone website. This one holds up to 100 photographs and also uses a USB cord to transfer pictures from the computer (Windows or Mac) to the keychain. It has a 1.5" screen but only has a two-hour photo viewing battery life.

The Bottom Line

Sadly, the Soban keychains are not available to everyone quite yet as they've only been released in Korea. Though most other digital photo keychains can't hold a candle to the battery life or the storage space of that particular model, there are some very good alternatives out there that still hold more pictures than a wallet will. If you were hoping to give a Soban as a gift, these other models still make great inexpensive gifts for almost everyone.
