Where to Buy Wii Fit
From LoveToKnow Buy
Even after two years, many of the Nintendo Wii accessories are still hard to find, but the one question you might still be asking yourself is where to buy Wii Fit. Are there better places to find the Wii Fit? And if so, are there any strategies you can use to guarantee that you get one? Lines are still being formed to purchase the Wii Fit and hopefully this guide can assist you in finding the places where you have the best chance of getting the Wii Fit.
Major Offline Retailers
Any major retailers that sell video games will most likely carry the Wii Fit. Target, Walmart, or Kmart are three top retailers that are in most major towns or are available within driving distance if you are located in a rural area. All three may not be present, but your chances of where to buy Wii Fit go up if you have more stores available.
Gamestop is a specialty video game retailer that sometimes is able to get certain video game products in more frequently. You might be able to find the Wii Fit used. Best Buy offers a larger selection of video games than upscale department store-like merchants and may get Wii Fits in more often. This electronics giant usually hands out tickets when they have received a large quantity of this item.
Here is a short list of small retailers that you may not know carry the Wii Fit. You can check them regularly also:
- FYE (For Your Entertainment)--Mostly music, but does house a small game section
- Sam Goody--Also a music store, but has recently gotten into gaming
There are some advantages and disadvantages to offline retailers:
Advantages
- The price is consistent across the board. You should be able to find the Wii Fit for $89.99 wherever you go. Be wary of a store that charges more.
- Returning the Wii Fit is simpler. If something does happen to go wrong, all you need to do is go back to the store (of course, make sure you are following their return policy) and exchange or return it.
- Following the same logic, some retailers like Best Buy offer the option to purchase extended service plans for two or three years. And yes, they offer them on video games and video game peripherals. The one positive of doing this is that you only need to deal with Best Buy for any returns or exchanges, eliminating shipping costs and time spent waiting.
Disadvantages
- The biggest disadvantage is that consistent in-stocks are rare. Anyplace that stocks the Wii Fit is at the mercy of how fast Nintendo can produce them. Retailers that have larger purchasing power and sell them quicker often get priority.
- Most stores will not hold the Wii Fit if you call ahead. They will tell you if they have any in-stock and possibly how many, but that's it.
Where to Buy Wii Fit Online
You will have many more choices on where to buy Wii Fit if you go online. The brick-and-mortar stores have online counterparts, but a good rule of thumb is that if the actual store is out of stock, then there is a 99 percent chance the online version is also out of stock. On the other hand, visiting online only stores could possibly net you a Wii Fit.
Amazon is one of the largest online suppliers of everything. They seem to have a constant stock of Wii Fits either new or used.
Half.com is true to its name on most of the merchandise they sell, but the Wii Fits typically are regular price if not higher. They aren't as consistent with in-stocks as Amazon, but it's a Web retailer you should keep checking.
eBay is where you'll probably find more used Wii Fits than new. The one issue here is that you are in a bidding war for the product and there is no guarantee you will get it.
Disadvantages to Online Retailers
- The price will fluctuate greatly between online sellers. Rarely will there be one single price like in physical stores. Demand hasn't decreased so the "price gouging" will be rampant. Be diligent in your research to find the best price.
- Shipping. Some websites will charge you shipping, but if you can, purchase from websites that offer free shipping on amounts over a certain price.
